How does Team Rage
race reimbursement work?
Good question. Here are the steps.
Step 1: Rage Racing is a pretty laid back club focused
on having fun, racing mountain bikes and developing New England
racers. We are not a hardcore group made up of just expert
racers (although we do have some). Please take a minute and
read our disclaimer to learn more
about us. Another great avenue for information is the Team
Rage Racing web site. Here you will find useful information
such as which races we are sponsoring, pictures of us racing,
and the infamous Rage Race Report. In 2004 we will sponsor
14 New England Mountain Bike
Races and 2 short track events with a concentration on
the Eastern Fat Tire Association (EFTA) New England Championship
Series (NECS). The number of open slots for reimbursement
will vary, depending on rider participation, the event.
Step 2:We use Yahoo Groups to communicate race reimbursement news and information.
Please sign up for the Team
Rage email.To
do this, click the "Email List" button on the
left navigation bar. Sign up for the Team Rage email list
via Yahoo Groups. We also use PayPal to send you your reimbursement
cash! If you do not
have an account, please go to www.paypal.com and sign up.
Step 3:
In order to get reimbursed for a sponsored race,
you are required to wear a 2004 Rage Jersey. Each year,
around December or January, we send out an email announcing
details on how to purchase the team jersey. The design and
delivery is a custom order, so you must place your purchase
at this time. Reimbursement is accomplished with the generous
contributions of our sponsors. In return, we race with their
logos and names on our jerseys. To be reimbursed, you MUST
be wearing current RAGE attire. There will not be another
order placed for the 2004 season.
Step 4: During the month preceding a sponsored
race, an email will be sent out via the Team Rage Yahoo
list server, requesting sign-up for all those wishing to
apply for reimbursement.
Step 5: If you plan on racing, reply to the email ASAP. There are limited spaces available and the slots
fill up quickly. We are not affiliated with EFTA or the
event sponsors, so please make sure you’ve sent in the appropriate
registration information for each race. Typically, this
information can be downloaded from the sponsors’ site.
Step 6: The week before a sponsored race, we post a listing of who is racing and
who is sponsored. Usually this is done via email, but sometimes
this information is posted to the website as well.
Step 7: After every race,
sponsored riders are required to submit a brief ‘Race Report’
to racing@ragemtb.com.
You should include your finishing place and
highlight any of your race experiences in your description.
Interesting comments, humor and deranged stories are encouraged.
Your submission will be compiled, massaged and incorporated
into the final Rage Race Report, which will be sent to the
list. Race Reports will also be archived at www.ragemtb.com/team.
Step 8: Once you have submitted your report you will be paid
via PayPal.
Frequently
Asked Questions (answered by Dave and Curt)
Q. Can anyone wearing a jersey get reimbursed?
A. No, you must have pre-registered for the event
as described above. We
will post a list of the sponsored riders prior to the race.
If you see your name on the list, wear a Rage jersey,
submit a race report and race, you will get reimbursed.
Q. Do I have to do my own registrations or will you do it for me?
A. There's no such thing as a stupid question --
except this one. Geez, do you figure you've joined a bike
club or a secretarial pool? Filling out registration is
your deal. Some events have a limited number of spaces for
racers, be safe and save some cash - register early.
Q. Will there be fresh fruit available at the races, as I do not like
beer?
A. There will be a lot of fruits at these events.
Some will be fresh, others will be nice.
By any means, I don’t think you would enjoy eating
one of them. They are typically covered in mud. By-the way…do
you own a road bike? Have you ever thought of riding with
the Charles River Wheelmen? However, dried plums might be
available for your eating pleasure and certainly Harpoon
beer!
Q. What if I take a slot and then don't show up?
A. Well…you
will not be reimbursed. You most likely will be shunned.
You will have to clean Dave and Curt’s bikes for the next
three races. If something comes up that prevents you from
coming to the race, email us and let us know. Race spots
are limited. So if you don’t show up…someone is missing
out on a reimbursement.
Q. What's the best way to get reimbursements paid?
A. Sign up with PayPal. We will send you the reimbursement
shortly after race and after receiving your Race Report.
Q. I just started racing again and missed out on the
Rage Uniform purchase this winter yet I would love to race.
What do I do?
A. Email the
Rage Team list and someone may be able to help you find
a jersey.
Q. I respond to the race request email ASAP as mentioned
above but I can never seem to make the sponsored list? What
do I do?
A. It has been
rumored that bribes work wonders.
