Team Sponsorships
Harpoon has stepped up again this year to sponsor what may be the most unique program in the country. The Harpoon / Rage Racing Program is geared towards helping anyone (yes, that's right, anyone, from the first-timer to experts with a Harpoon Jersey) who wants to race.

In addition to that, Doug and I raised some travel sponsorship for some New England-based racers who didn't have much support or resources. We'll be sending them to some national events this year with that additional support from the California Dried Plum Board, Sluggers and Store-U-Self. Last year, we offered some promising semi-pros and juniors support from Gary Fisher and International Bicycle Centers. We were lucky enough to get some extra bikes for the club as well last year.

We thought that Fisher was going to roughly double the number of bikes to the team this year, but you know what happened to the economy. So, instead of being in the awkward position of trying to divvy up bikes, we're in the awkward position of peeling back the offers. This year, I opted to go the easy way out -- give people who had them last year first opportunity. We only had three to give. Chris Smith graciously passed to give the opportunity to someone else as did Doug. Nate, Dave and Joselle will be riding for the club and representing us well at the entire EFTA series. Next year, we'll put together a more sophisticated way of divvying up any bikes or frames we get (ie, based upon results, number of times my lawn is mowed, etc.).

That said, we'd like to congratulate the sponsored racers of Team Rage / Harpoon who will get either bike or frame support from Gary Fisher and International.

These folks make mountain biking pretty much their lives (many of them have been riding 4 hours each Sunday since January!) and its fun to have them around as part of the team. They've committed to racing the entire EFTA and/or NORBA NCS series and they are going to have an awesome year:

Pro
Adam "Race Day" Bucklin (Mt. Snow semi-pro champ, now turning Pro)
Ben Moody (EFTA Series champ, also turning Pro)
Sara Bresnick (2nd in the NORBA Expert series nationally, turning Pro)
Karen DeWolfe (trades in her Sobe for some Harpoon on the Pro circuit)
Dawn Bourque (double world champ -- in both DH and XC)

Expert
Nate Ringquist
Dave Currie
Scott Smith (International employee rider)

Sport
Joselle Crandall
