8th Annual Rage on Otis & Trail of Tears
May 6-8, 2005
Great #8!!!
Time to kick off the 2005 riding season with the 8th Annual Rage
On Otis and Trail of Tears Weekend. This year the dates are May
6-7-8. NOTE: We will be camping at a new venue....more info
below. By all indications, such as emails and the activity
on the forum we expect over 75 ragers to be there this year - .last
year we were 60 strong.
We will ride at Otis on Saturday morning, ride stunts and
socialize at the campsite Saturday afternoon and evening and then
ride Trail of Tears on Sunday morning. We have Harpoon on board
again - Summer Ale and IPA.*
* 21 and over only, please.
What Do You Need To Do?
- Check your calendar - May 6-8 - Nothing going on? There is now!
- Please send an email to Tim (timmer ”at” rageMTB.com)
saying:
"I want to go and be part of the 8th Annual Rage On
Otis & TOT Weekend"
Let him know if you are flying solo or bringing someone else
(# of campers).
This is important – give him your real name –
not your cyber-alias, aka, mumbo-jumbo, rage nickname, etc.
Complete payment will be required to reserve a campsite and
it's a real pain if it is last minute. You are not on the list
unless Tim has your payment.
The final cost is $15 per person total (yes, for the
whole weekend! and no, no discounts for partial attendance...)
So ante up fast!
BEST WAY: If you have PayPal setup please make a CASH
payment to timmer “at” ragemtb.com (No credit cards,
please)
If PayPal is a real problem for you - then you can pay Tim
directly with cash or a check at Redbones on most any Thursday
night. You can email Tim for a snailmail address, as well.
What To Bring
It is recommended that your bring the following equipment:
a tent
sleeping bag
sleeping mat
stove if you have one
towels
Bug Spray
Camp Chair
Cups / plates etc.
Extra water
Camera
Bike Locks
Warm coat and hat for the evening
Night riding lights
tarp
Food/Drink
As much fire wood as you can carry!
whatever - you're camping you know what you need.
Camera
If you have read down this far and you have a camera - bring it
and maybe you'll find your picture on the Otis 2005 Pictures page!!!
(or at least be able to supply blackmail pictures of other Ragers
acting stupid - perfect material for the web page or the forum!!!).
Where
We'll be staying at the Cape Cod Camping Resort in Falmouth NOTE:
THIS WAS A NEW CAMPSITE LAST YEAR FOR US - AND IT WORKED OUT GREAT!
The campsite is located at 176 Thomas B. Landers Road in East Falmouth...about
4-5 miles from the rotary at Otis Airforce Base. This campsite has
no alcohol restrictions. However, they will be asking EVERYONE in
our group to sign a liability waiver upon arrival due to the risk
of stunt riding that will likely occur.
The cost is $15 for the whole weekend. No refunds for cancellations.
Also: We will be riding to Otis from the campsite to the Route 151
entrance (ride distance 2-3 miles.) Lastly, the campsite manager
would like us to conform to a local town zoning ordinance and only
have 2 tents per site, so sort yourselves out accordingly when you
get there...there will be plenty of room. Just leave the same campsite
on the outer edge we had last year for the community firepit.
Directions
From Boston: Take I 93 south to I 95 south then take Rte 24 south
to I 495 south. I 495 will turn into Rte. 28. Follow until you cross
the Bourne Bridge and go half way around the rotary staying on Rte.
28 south. Go about 10 miles (through the second rotary at Otis -
keep on Rte. 28 south toward Woods Hole and the Ferries) until you
see the exit for Thomas Landers Road (about 2 miles past Rte. 151).
Take this exit and turn left at the bottom of the ramp. Going East
on Thomas Landers Road, follow for about 2.5 miles until you see
the Cape Cod Camp resort on the right side. check in at the entrance
gate and proceed to the campsites. From Worcester/West: Take 495
south to the Bourne Bridge and you can follow the directions from
above.
Pet Policy
Pets restrained on leashes and supervised at all times are allowed.
But, we would highly discourage you from bringing your dog on the
rides in respect for your fellow riders. Dogs often get in the way
and can be a hazard to other riders who aren't used to them, as
well as themselves. It is also necessary to make arrangements with
a non-riding guest to watch out/be responsible for your dog while
you are riding.
