What
Do You Need To Do? * If you want to join us for camping, just come down and join us and give me $20 when you get there. * If you want to join us for riding only, just show up at the trailheads on time (details below). Riding is free. Camping Gear it is recommended that you bring the following equipment Tent Sleeping bag Sleeping mat / air matress Stove/grill (if you have one) Towels Bug Spray Fire Wood - this is key, folks! Cups / plates etc. Camera Bike Locks Night riding lights Camp chair Food/Drink/Trail Food Extra water Warm coat and hat for the evening Flashlight/Headlamp Whatever else- you're camping! you know what you need… Where We'll be staying at the Cape Cod Camping Resort in Falmouth NOTE: THIS WAS A NEW CAMPSITE FOR US A COUPLE YEARS AGO - AND IT WORKED OUT GREAT! The campsite is located at 176 Thomas B. Landers Road in East Falmouth...about 4-5 miles from the rotary on route 28 at Otis Airforce Base. This campsite has no alcohol restrictions*. However, they will be asking EVERYONE in our group to sign a liability waiver upon arrival due to the risk of stunt riding that will likely occur. The cost is $20 for the whole weekend. No refunds for cancellations. Also: We may be riding to Otis from the campsite to the Route 151 entrance (ride distance 2-3 miles.) They will assign us campsites, but we can move around within the assignments. Just leave the same campsite on the outer edge (campsite "G") we had last year for the community firepit. * 21 and over unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. No exceptions. Schedule Friday Afternoon - Leave Boston Friday 6-9pm - everyone arrives and pitches tents + BBQ/juggle/beer/socialize at the fire Saturday 9am - get up + eat breakfast Saturday 10.30am - ride in Otis - meet at the Campsite Saturday 10.45am - ride in Otis - meet at the Route 151 Parking lot (across from Veterinary Hospital) Saturday 3-4pm - lunch + chillin at the campsite - stunts! Saturday night - BBQ, Bonfire and beer Sunday 9am - get up + breakfast Sunday 10am - pack up everything and drive to Trail of Tears and ride it Sunday 11am - Caravan leaves from campsite to Trail of Tears Sunday 11:30am - Caravan arrives at Trail of Tears parking lot Sunday 3-4pm - IHOP :) Directions From Boston to Campsite: Take I 93 south to I 95 south then take Rte 24 south to I 495 south. I 495 will turn into Rte. 28. Follow until you cross the Bourne Bridge and go half way around the rotary staying on Rte. 28 south. Go about 10 miles (through the second rotary at Otis - keep on Rte. 28 south toward Woods Hole and the Ferries) until you see the exit for Thomas Landers Road (about 2 miles past Rte. 151). Take this exit and turn left at the bottom of the ramp. Going East on Thomas Landers Road, follow for about 2.5 miles until you see the Cape Cod Camp resort on the right side. Check in at the entrance gate and proceed to the campsites. From Worcester/West: Take 495 south to the Bourne Bridge and you can follow the directions from above. From Boston to Otis/151 Parking Lot: Take I 93 south to I 95 south then take Rte 24 south to I 495 south. I 495 will turn into Rte. 28. Follow until you cross the Bourne Bridge and go half way around the rotary staying on Rte. 28 south. But, we would highly discourage you from bringing your dog on the rides in respect for your fellow riders. Dogs often get in the way and can be a hazard to other riders who aren't used to them, as well as themselves. It is also necessary to make arrangements with a non-riding guest to watch out/be responsible for your dog while you are riding. |
